Short History
There was a large amount of time before humans came into existence. There was much time after that until humans evolved into their current form the homo sapiens.
Humans created better technology that could improve the world as well as destroy it. The Umbrella Corporation overreached their abilities and ended up accidentally unleashing the T-Virus onto the world. Instead of its intended use to bring dead tissue back to life, it made the living into zombies.
It took the efforts of Rin and the Mormonts to get rid of the T-Virus and cure those already affected. Now the world is in a state of rebuilding.
