Physiology
White Walkers are like Wights in that they are both undead. However, White Walkers are able to control other wights and have to be made from a living child. Sometimes they can be made from a living adult.
Wights are creatures that are brought back from the dead. They keep the same physiology as they had when living. So a human would still appear human as would a bear. The key difference is that they lose their individuality and are controlled by a White Walker.
Wherever White Walkers go the weather becomes colder than it already was.
Society
The society of the White Walkers is not known to outsiders. One thing that is known is that the Night King rules over both Wights and White Walkers. With the latter being his generals. There is also the fact that the Night King and White Walkers are intelligent.
Another thing that is known that once the Night King dies, the White Walkers will fight amongst themselves until a new leader is decided upon.
