November 2018 Book of the Month

Book of the Month isn't intended as a book club thing. Instead, it's a way for me to suggest books for you to read. Sometimes the books will have impacted me greatly and other times they'll be what I've read recently. If you would like to use my Book of the Month as a reading club, though, feel free to.

The Book of the Month is The Giver by Tom Lois Lowry.

The summary from Goodreads:
Twelve-year-old Jonas lives in a seemingly ideal world. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver does he begin to understand the dark secrets behind this fragile community.

Like many, I read this book when I was in school. After I graduated I read it again. It is still a good book and has themes that are relatable. As in the US it is Thanksgiving this month, I decided on a book that reminded me to be thankful. No matter how horrible life is, it is better to have the pain than lose the beauty. There are three other books in this series but I don't recommend reading them.
