War Against the Children of the Forest
Was turned against his will into a White Walker by the Children of the Forest. He was able to resist the magic used to bind him and decided to kill those who changed him. A few humans he turned into fellow White Walkers and they became commanders. The majority of his army was made up of wights who were dead people and animals that had no free will of their own. The wights were controlled by the Night King and his commanders.

He tried to communicate with the living but found it near impossible. Because the Children of the Forest could easily paint him as a villain, they were able to gain the humans as allies. They were able to be pushed back and the Wall was built so they couldn't travel south.

Upon the Night King gaining Viserion as a mount, he was able to finish what he had started generations ago.

Battle for Winterfell
The Night King launched a large scale battle on Winterfell. He is defeated by Arya Stark when he is mere feet from killing Bran Stark.
